50 Cent: Blood in the Sand

The narrative follows the 50 Cent with his group on tour. After a gig the promoter runs away with their money, the promoter’s people show 50 cent a diamond skull that the promoter owns. They offer 50 Cent the skull as an option payment. As they leave the place they are robbed off the skull. The missions are based on getting back either the skull or the actual payment. The argument is 50 cent is supposed to accomplish what the US Government has failed in 7 years. Again what is 50 Cent doing in the Middle East? This game was a sequel to the previous 50 Cent Bulletproof. Blood on the sand is a third person shooting game. Third person shooting game is a genre, games are structured around shooting, and in which the player can see the avatar on-screen in a third person view. This game is marketed and distributed by THQ AND Swordfish. Reviews state that it is an alright game better than the previous but still has room for improvement.

NBA Live 10 Trailer

NBA Live 10

This game trailer is descent, not as appealing as the previous ones. It lacks the traditional hip hop soundtrack to it, instead has a background music which i feel does not work. I feel there is so much fade in and out which could have been edited off. How ever the pausing effect works because it builts the impact of the actual move in the game. The graphics and the game play look better than the previous games. I would buy the game because im a traditional NBA Live fan but from the gaming sites the rival 2K game is bette.

A Bugs Life: Comment

From watchin the starting of this animation i can tell the narrative follows the life of the character Flake one of the workers. The camera shots on Zie are close ups to show the significance of him in the film. Its a typical good vs evil film, having flake as the protagonist and the supposedly yearly coming enermies the antagonists. The mainstream audience of this film could be young children, age ranging from 6 to 12 years of age. This suggested by the primary colours on the scene and the movie title. Again the bugs inprints on the letters of the title. How ever this could also be a family movie since it in involves working. Hierarchy presantation of the queen, the leader and the worker reflects in families. Therefore it will be relavent to a family audience. The animation graphics are descent watching them now considering animation at the time of release. There is more to the film but the analysis forcuses on only this clip. The director does a good job on the opening of the film because it sets the scene and acknowleges the audience of the possibilities of what the narrative may be. It captures your interest its not complex for the mainstream audience but its predictable from my point of view.

Discovering

My One shot film was inspired by two series namely an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air when the Banks family was held hostage by a clown, only to discover the clown had fake amunition. The second film was Holby city; a woman was stuck in a elevator with a doctor and she gave birth. I merged the two ideas to a narrative. The mainstream audience for this one short film are the Nottingham Trent media class. It was an assignment which will be a presantation to the class. What i know is there is high chances that have seen both films. This is because Fresh Prince has been running from early 90s till now and Holb city has high ratings. Most of the students live on flats so this will be relavent to them, its something they can relate to. The narrative has realism because it follows something that could potentially happen.

Devoloping
The setting was established as the lift so it was developing the idea of what could happen in a lift. At this point the idea has not been presented to the group so the planning involves me picturing the setting. The characters of the film will be the members of the group so even with the narrative i was considering that the characters will be the members of the group, getting people from outside is difficult. The typical hostage film, the next scene ussually the gun man flee with the money from victims, police sirens and a fight scene with the security. I thought why not end with a happy note. The whole hostage scene was a joke. The gun wanted to be friendly and have conversation but he got a gloomy response so he decided to play a trick on the people. The previous project recieved a negative response so i thought i put work on this one and its still in developement.

One Shot Film: 1.1

Idea
From the reviews we have since decided to go back and start from scratch to do something better than the first project. My ideas that i will present to the group will follow the narrative of people held hostage in a lift. When the lift gets to the ground floor where which is everyone’s destination the predator leaves the lift showing he had nothing on him. The idea was made suitable for the narrative from an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, when Juggles a clown held the banks family hostage together with the court, only to discover he had fake ammunition. I also recall watching an episode of Holby city where a woman was stuck in a lift with a doctor where she gave birth. I then thought of the having a scene where people are in the lift and there is a sudden power cut, they are held hostage by a gun man with a fake gun. As soon as the lift starts working it is revealed that the gunman did not have a gun. The setting does not allow all this to happen because we cannot control the lift on the power cut so i think just having it move from the top floor to the ground floor.

One Shot Film: Wasted

Filming
Ideas
On the filming the short project we came up with a number of ideas namely two students goin to a party in a flat. The focus of the film is on the lift. Another idea that came up was that of using the lift and things happening as the lift opened on every floor. We then merged the two ideas. The narrative follows a drunk student who is already in the lift as two other come in. When they get to the next floor there are two gals fighting. One of the girls escapes the fight by entering the lift and leaving the other follow the lift by the staircase. On the next floor there is a flight of kites into the lift. The floor above that, the lift opens to find a drunk guy sleeping on a mattress. The floor after is where there is the party scene. The students come out of the lift leaving the drunk guy. We came out but leaving the drunk guy. On the extended narrative you see the lift go up and one character follows it to the next lift to call the ‘wasted’ guy to the party. It goes down to find a guy sweeping the remains of the party. The lift closes and goes back down to find on one of the floor the girls fighting. The one who had escaped earlier on gets hit by wood and falls to the ground. The doors close and the drunk guy (camera) looks into the ceiling to fade to the end. We developed an idea inspired but what could happen in a lift.

The Process
We had group a meeting to discuss about the ideas of the narrative, where we will film and what we need. We did the filming the next day on one of the group member’s flat. We had about four takes for the film and we selected the one which we agreed was good. We took the footage for editing and we added music for there was sound on the footage. We added titles and fades for the transitions.

Evaluation
The film had a negative reception with critics stating that the lighting was bad. On filming we did not consider that outside the lift will not look as light as the inside the lift. The narrative is not clear after merging the two ideas into one narrative and having an extended narrative which I feel distorted the narrative. Some critics say the party does not capture your interest because the narrative is not clear. I realised that a male and a female character came in at the beginning of the lift seeming to go together to the party. On the party floor only one of them comes out. It down grades the narrative and does not convince you that the camera is the persona. We could have had a persona narrate the story, or have interior monolog about what’s happening and his opinion
